“Prior to my posting as Australian Ambassador to Mexico, I spent two and a half weeks at the Latinoamerica Spanish Academy in Antigua, Guatemala in March 2005.

I found the administrative arrangements made by the school’s director, Mr Jose Sanchez, to be excellent. I also found the atmosphere at the school to be friendly and helpful. Mr Sanchez and his wife were both welcoming and extremely helpful in terms of arrangements for classes and always prepared to offer additional assistance in helping students settle into life in Antigua.

In terms of language tuition, Mr Sanchez was an excellent and very experienced tutor, both knowledgeable and flexible in meeting my needs at a relatively advanced level. The firndly, family-like atmosphere among Mr and Mrs Sanchez and the team of tutors at the school is conducive to communication and all students to whom I spoke were positive about their experience there.

I left the school at the end of my stay having both made good progress in Spanish and good friends along the way.”
